Saturday 17th March 2018, West London Shooting School.

Graham Dearing APGM presenting the pool shoot prize to Peter Allen.

THE BEAST FROM THE EAST had returned, the snow was falling as the Buckinghamshire Masonic C.P.S.A. members and friends were arriving to started the first charity shoot of 2018 at The West London Shooting School, Northolt, were they received a warm welcomed in the Bar/Restaurant from Dave Hollis and Roger Gills from B.M.C.P.S.A. they all had bacon roll’s and coffee before a short health and safety talk by one of the W.L.S.S. instructor/referee, at 10.00 am with only two shooters having not turned up the 33 brave (or maybe a little mad) shooters which include six shooters from Middlesex, who had all wrapped up well, headed out to take on the 100 clay course, the wind made it feel much colder, but that did not prevent everybody enjoying the challenge.

Ladies High Gun Louise Jennings Hoole (Lanc’s).

With just about every type of clay being thrown or rolled the only thing that made any of them change was the strong wind ( well that’s what I said when I missed), so with a high gun score of 91 by Michael Blackwell (Non-Mason) which made him over all High Gun, being the only shooter above 90, the next shooter to get close to that score was Phil McDonald with 89, (Masonic High Gun), and there followed 9 shooters in the 80’s (33%) showing the standard on the day to be a good one, there was also one shooter that had not shot before, and with the help of the instructor and the encouragement of the members of his group, Graham Dearing (APGM) managed to hit a score of 44, well done to Graham and his instructor.

Overall High Gun Michael Blackwell

By 12.30 all where back in the warmth of lodge Bar/Restaurant, were the buzz of chatter was all most deafening as the shooters exchanged stories off missed clay’s or fantastic shots they had made over a drink from the bar, a meal of Bangers and Mash followed by treacle pudding went down well, followed by the all important prize giving, but first the raffle was made, which made £255.00 towards the final total.
